On Monday and Tuesday this week we hosted our 2022 research conference ‘Putting Net Zero into Action: addressing the implementation gap’ at Etc.Venues in Manchester. It was our first conference since the pandemic, our first hybrid conference, and the first chance for the community to debate the Net Zero Strategy.
The conference was a great success with more than one hundred in person attendees, and plenty more joining online. Professor Paul Dodds did a fantastic job as conference chair and alongside lots of expert contributors, we also had two great keynote speakers: Niall Toru, Senior Lawyer from Friends of the Earth and Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester.
The agenda covered many interesting and pertinent topics such as the global energy crisis, the role of local government in enabling decarbonisation and unlocking net-zero innovation. In the coming weeks we will be sharing all of the sessions online, so if you couldn’t join at the event us you will still be able to view the sessions, but in the meantime you can get a taster of the conference in the short video below.
