UKERC conference: call for poster abstracts

28 Feb 2022

We will be hosting our research conference ‘Putting Net Zero into Action’, at etc.venues, Manchester, on 13 and 14 June 2022.

Oral sessions will encourage a debate in each policy area, while researchers are encouraged to present their research in a poster session. We particularly encourage Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to take this opportunity to present their research, and we will cover the registration fees of any ECR whose abstract is accepted for the poster session.

The policy areas being examined at the conference are:

  1. Implications of high oil and gas prices for our decarbonisation strategy
  2. Power decarbonisation – should there be a nuclear renaissance
  3. Biomass strategy and negative emission technologies
  4. Public: how to decarbonise homes and cars while protecting vulnerable people?
  5. Industry sector: how to decarbonise while maintaining competitiveness?
  6. Public sector: The roles of local government in enabling decarbonisation, both directly and as an enabler for other sectors
  7. Behavioural change opportunities
  8. Costs and benefits of decarbonisation
  9. Customer engagement and regulation
  10. Green innovation and investment, and opportunities for ‘levelling up’
  11. Energy infrastructure
  12. UK natural environment considerations, including land and seas

Attendees wishing to present posters need to submit extended abstracts describing the proposed contribution and the useful insights that attendees are expected to gain. Abstracts should be of the order of 300-500 words (excluding any cited references) and should include:

  • the title of the proposed presentation;
  • the names and affiliations of the authors;
  • keywords indicating the main areas of contribution; and,
  • the email address of the corresponding author.

ECRs presenting posters are automatically enrolled into a competition, for which a prize will be handed out following their presentations on 13 June.

As the conference is a ‘hybrid event’ we also welcome contributions intended for the digital platform, e.g. videos or other presentations that can be uploaded and presented on the platform. Contributions that primarily advertise goods or services are not permitted. If you would like to submit digital content please submit your ideas as an abstract.

Poster abstracts should be sent to ukerc@ucl.ac.uk by no later than midnight on 28 March 2022 (note that full papers are not required at any stage).

Authors will be notified of the selection of contributions by 05 May 2022.

The final conference programme will be published in April 2022.
