Professor Nick Pidgeon PhD MBE a social scientist with expertise in public engagement with energy technologies and the environment. PI for grants (ESRC, EPSRC, NERC, Leverhulme Trust) e.g. on nuclear power, carbon capture and storage, greenhouse gas removal, and circular economy strategies for consumption reduction. He is a co-Investigator in UKERC since 2011 (Phases 2, 3 and 4) and in FLEXIS (Flexible Integrated Energy Systems), a £24 million 6-year collaboration within South Wales to develop demonstrator projects to model future decarbonised and decentralised energy systems. He has extensive policy experience working with Parliament, the Welsh and Scottish Governments, DEFRA, DECC, GOScience, the Royal Society, and US National Academy of Sciences. In 2006 he chaired the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on Climate Change inquiry which recommended the setting up of the UK Climate Change Committee.
