A group of prestigious scientific leaders has been appointed to the Science and Technology Advisory Council, which met for the first time last week (Wednesday 9 July).
The Council will provide robust, scientific, evidence-based information to support key decisions as we overhaul our energy system to reach clean power by 2030. Among the Science and Technology Advisory Council members is Nick Pidgeon, UKERC Researcher and Professor of Environmental Psychology and Risk at Cardiff University.
Their expert advice will allow ministers to access the most up-to-date and well-informed scientific evidence, improving decision-making and effectiveness of policy implementation.
On the announcement, Nick said:
“I’m delighted to be appointed to this influential Science Advisory Council at DESNZ. There is a long history of UKERC’s independent research and advice informing UK energy policy, from across its systems modelling, economics and social sciences work. I hope in this role to assist in forging even stronger future links between the UKERC community and DESNZ.”
UKERC Advisory Board member Sara Walker has also been appointed to the board.
We want to congratulate Nick and Sara on this prestigious appointment.
