There have been multiple calls for investment in green jobs, skills and infrastructure to help achieve the UK’s net-zero target while supporting economic recovery from COVID-19 and a just transition away from high carbon sectors. Employment and economic benefits are often cited as part of efforts to lobby for investment in clean energy projects such as renewables, low carbon heating and energy efficiency.
This webinar hosted in conjunction with BIEE, presents key findings arising from our latest report exploring low carbon energy jobs, which finds that investment in low carbon energy and energy efficiency can deliver more jobs than gas or coal power generation.
Following contributions from Janet Wood, BIEE Chair and Prof Jan Webb, UKERC, Richard Hanna presents key findings from the project, followed by responses from panellists: Chloé Nemo Ramirez, Climate Change Committee; Charles Wood, Energy UK and Anna Markova, Trades Union Congress.
You can also watch a short video summarising the report here.
