Survey: Open data for local energy system innovation

02 Sep 2020

Regen is working with UK Research and Innovation, Innovate UK and the Energy Systems Catapult to explore how open data can enable greater innovation in local energy systems, and would value your thoughts on what challenges could be addressed by innovators by completing a short survey.

Regen will explore the opportunities for utilising data for local energy systems and identify the challenges that stakeholders have that could be met through data solutions. In doing so they hope to support innovation for net zero and investment in the green recovery.

Some of the ways in which Regen expect data could be better used are:

  • Providing better energy advice for local people considering home asset investments
  • Supporting developers of renewable generation to identify sites
  • Providing services that facilitate bill reductions for the vulnerable
  • Addressing network constraint management
  • Choosing heating assets for new building developments
  • Matching of energy supply and demand.

Let Regen know your thoughts by completing the survey here. The deadline for submissions is the 4th September.

UKERC hosts an Energy Data Centre for users in the public, private, and third sectors, ensuring future access to valuable data-sets. Based at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, it provides a comprehensive showcase of UK energy research and is an invaluable tool for researchers and other stakeholders. Find out more
