‘Intersectionality in the careers of ethnic minority energy professionals’ is part of UKERC’s Whole Systems Networking Fund, a unique research opportunity that seeks to improve Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in energy research through seven distinct projects, announced in September 2022.
Led by Dr Mehreen Gul at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, this particular project aims to develop knowledge and guidelines on how to adopt an intersectional approach to support the careers of ethnic minority energy professionals in their early and mid-careers. The team’s research will increase awareness of issues related to the career progression of ethnic minorities, and identify formal and informal support systems and interventions linked to this.
Mehreen and her team are looking for professionals from ethnic minority backgrounds working in the energy sector – in academia or industry – to ask them about their career journeys and experiences. The aim is to provide insights into career aspirations. If you would like to take part, the team would be very pleased to hear from you.
Interviews can be done online and will take up to 45 minutes, arranged at a time convenient for the participants. If you are interested in taking part, please email Asifulla Khan: a.khan@hw.ac.uk
With thanks from the project team:
