Dr Jonathan Radcliffe is Professor of Energy Systems at the University of Birmingham. His research is strongly interdisciplinary, covering technologies and policies for decarbonisation. He is UK lead for the £6m UK-US Global Center in Clean Energy and Equitable Transportation Solutions (CLEETS). Other projects focus on climate resilience of mitigation pathways, industrial decarbonisation, energy storage and heat pumps. He has led work in Kenya, Mexico, Brazil and India, aimed at meeting the needs of local communities. Jonathan has advised central government and the UK parliament, also engaging closely with industry and policy-makers in the region.

Before joining the University of Birmingham, Jonathan led the Analysis Team for the Energy Research Partnership, worked on science and innovation policy in government, and was specialist for the House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee. He trained as a physicist at Imperial College and the University of Cambridge.
