Costanza Concetti is a Research Fellow in the Department of Politics and International Studies (PAIS) at the University of Warwick, having joined in 2026. She is currently working on the UKERC project ‘Geopolitical Economy of Low Emissions Transitions’ led by Professor Gavin Bridge, which explores the geography and political economy of grid-enabled battery storage in the UK as well as the emerging geopolitics of international electricity interconnectors.
Her research centres on the politics of energy transitions, with a focus on both the (in)justice of transition processes and on the role of the technical and the material in shaping transition policies and strategies. In her PhD, this has translated in work mapping the influence of socio-technical systems and technocratic regimes such as the electricity grid on energy transition pathways, state-region relationships, and the co-production of imaginaries of energy sovereignty. In her previous role as Research Fellow in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Aberdeen, she has instead focused on highlighting communities’ everyday encounters with planning regimes, landscapes, technologies and ideations of past and futures as they participate in energy transitions.
She holds a BSc from Georgetown University (SFS) and a MA and PhD from Durham University.
