Aaron Leavy

University of Strathclyde

Aaron works on methods for strategic, spatial energy system planning and joins UKERC after doing his PhD at Strathclyde on HVDC converters and their interactions with the power system. The work was primarily concerned with power system dynamics topics studied using time domain simulations. Previously, Aaron worked work on system stability and risk, after which he worked for ScottishPower Transmission.

Aaron performed steady-state-type short-circuit calculations and load flows during his time within SP Energy Networks (SPEN). In this work with UKERC, Aaron will use mathematical optimisation methods to solve stochastic programs in conjunction with multi-criteria decision making strategies, as part of creating a spatial energy planning framework.
