Aaron investigates methods to create a spatial energy investment planning framework, including consideration of mathematical optimisation programs and multi-criteria decision making strategies.
Aaron has joined UKERC through his current role as a Research Fellow at the University of Strathclyde (UoS), after previous roles as a Lead Engineer in SP Energy Networks (SPEN) and as a researcher in UoS. Aaron gained his PhD from UoS by proposing a method to compare dynamic reactive power compensators on their improvement of the large-signal dynamic performance of line commutated converter HVDC links.
Aaron has experience with short-circuit calculations, load flows, electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulations, phasor domain transient (PDT) simulations, analytical computationally-cheap mathematical optimisation, and simulation-based computationally-expensive optimisation.
