Quick Hits are a series of proposed initiatives developed by the Demand Reduction theme of the UK Energy Research Centre. They are intended to make a useful contribution in reducing carbon emissions by 2010, and are designed to be relatively easily for the Governmen or local authorities to implement. Legislative changes or expenditure needed would be small in nature, hence the title 'Quick Hits'.
This Quick Hit outlines how limiting the speed limit on motorways and dual carriageways to 60 mph or even merely better enforcing the current 70 mph limit could be one of the most equitable, cost-effective and potentially popular routes to achieve reductions in carbon emissions.
