UK businesses, such as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and the manufacturing industry, have been hit hard since 2021 by the extraordinary increase in global energy prices. Although prices have come down in recent months, they are still more than double their pre-2021 values. In 2023, businesses are expected to cope with these increases and stay competitive in the context of price volatility.
In this webinar, recorded on April 20th 2023, Ahmed Gailani and guests discuss the impacts of the energy crisis on UK businesses and how they can increase competitiveness and resilience to future energy shocks.
Speakers:
– Ahmed Gailani – UKERC research fellow in industrial decarbonisation
– Arjan Geveke – Director of Energy Intensive Users Group
– Friederike Andres – Policy Advisor at Federation of Small Businesses
