Earlier this year, we hosted an international summer school in Newcastle, which focused on a Global Just Transition: Equity in Net Zero. The event was a great success attracting over 80 students and topic experts from all over the world.
In this video we highlight insights from some of the students, along with those of Mulima Naymbe-Mubanga of the Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research, who along with Bernard Tembo of Tec Analytics Zambia Limited, joined us to deliver a core component of the agenda – a group task to develop a green growth strategy for Zambia.
Building on our experience of delivering cross-consortia training and development activities, this event was hosted in conjunction with seven other research consortia and institutions: HI-ACT, Supergen Energy Networks Hub, the Energy Transitions Centre Cambridge, IDLES, the Faraday Institution, CREDS, UKCCSRC and the Energy Research Accelerator.
The event had an international, interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral approach, and featured an engaging mix of lectures, workshops and group work on a problem-based scenario – developing a green growth strategy for Zambia. The programme also included site visits and plenty of networking and social events to maximise opportunities for attendees to interact with each other and develop networks with like-minded individuals.
