We are delighted to announce that Amber Sawyer has joined the UKERCHQ team as our new Engagement Officer.
Amber joins us from Imperial College London where she was based in the Student Financial Support team, her role was centred around widening participation in higher education.
Passionate about sustainability, Amber volunteers as a researcher for Giki Zero where she engages consumers in making the necessary behavioural changes for a transition to low-carbon economy.
Amber holds an undergraduate degree in zoology from UCL and has worked as a research assistant across the tropics, from Central America to Southeast Asia. Through her Master of Research degree in tropical forest ecology, she developed an interest in how the valuation of biodiversity and ecosystem services can incentivise climate action.
UKERC Director Professor Rob Gross said “I am delighted to welcome Amber, it is great to have a new and enthusiastic team member who will work with us to fulfil an essential role in networking and engagement across the community. With Amber in post, we will be able to run more events that bring together key stakeholders in research, industry, policy, and civil society.”
Amber is looking forward to working with the wider energy community, speaking about the position she said “with technology and policy rapidly evolving, it’s an exciting time to work in the energy sector and I’m looking forward to engaging with diverse actors at the cutting-edge of whole systems research”.
