Today, Professor Jim Watson, Director of the UK Energy Research Centre, has announced that he will be stepping down from his role at the end of the year.
Professor Watson has been Director of UKERC since early 2015, and originally joined UKERC as its Research Director in February 2013.
The research councils will soon provide more details regarding the recruitment process soon.
Professor Watson said “It has been a privilege to work as Research Director and Director of UKERC over the last six and a half years, and to work with so many talented colleagues.
In that time, there have been many significant changes in the energy research and policy landscape. This includes the adoption of the net zero target, which will provide an important framing for UKERC’s fourth 5-year phase of research.
I have no doubt UKERC will continue to carry out world class research – and provide evidence to inform the decisions that are needed to deliver net zero”
Professor Watson will continue to work at UCL in the Institute for Sustainable Resources, as Professor of Energy Policy.
