The Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) provided a letter of recognition for the contributions of Dr. Ahmed Gailani, of the UK Energy Research Centre and The University of Leeds, to DESNZ modelling of UK Industry decarbonisation and the 7th Carbon Budget work.
Dr Gailani provided technical advice to the Net Zero Industrial Pathways modelling and scenarios, including updating technology parameters and assumptions across sectors, helping DESNZ understand the effect of emission-saving attributions through decomposition analysis. He also participated in several working and steering group meetings to develop the Pathways model during his time with the Climate Change Committee.
In particular research papers, titled Assessing the potential of decarbonisation options for industrial sectors, and Assessing the electricity network capacity requirements for industrial decarbonisation in Great Britain, helped inform the process.
We pass on our congratulations to Ahmed for his work and recognition from the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero.
