The IGNITE Network+ has launched a new PGR Recruitment Resource Hub, created to improve equity, accessibility, and diversity in postgraduate research recruitment across the UK energy sector.
The Hub brings together a curated set of tools, guidance and information designed to support two key audiences: prospective postgraduate research applicants and the departments, supervisors and institutions involved in recruiting them.
For prospective PGR applicants, the Hub offers clear, practical information about what postgraduate research involves and how to navigate the application process. Particular attention is given to supporting individuals from under‑represented and marginalised backgrounds, who may face additional barriers when exploring or applying for postgraduate study. The resource also links to energy‑related opportunities through platforms such as find‑a‑PhD and to Centres for Doctoral Training working in energy themes.
For recruiters, supervisors and academic departments, the Hub provides evidence‑informed resources to help strengthen inclusive recruitment practices, widen participation, and ensure that all applicants are able to access opportunities equitably. This includes guidance on mitigating barriers, improving outreach, and developing fairer processes across the recruitment cycle.
By centralising information and offering tailored support for both applicants and recruiters, the IGNITE Network+ aims to contribute to a more diverse research community capable of responding to the challenges of the transition to net zero by 2050.
The PGR Recruitment Resource Hub is now live.
