Understanding Place-Based Retrofit

18 March 2026. 11:00

Hosted by the National Retrofit Hub

Overview

What do we actually mean when we talk about place-based retrofit, and why does that clarity matter for delivery?

This webinar introduces the National Retrofit Hub’s forthcoming publication, Understanding Place-Based Retrofit, developed in collaboration with the UK Green Building Council and the Energy Demand Research Centre, with support from the MCS Foundation.

The session will focus on establishing shared understanding. In particular, we will explore:

  • How we define place-based retrofit
  • The core principles that distinguish a place-based approach
  • Why consistent definitions are important for policy, funding and delivery
  • How clearer language can support alignment and consensus building across the sector

There will also be an opportunity for participants to contribute to the next stage of this work: a practical guide that translates these definitions into delivery, setting out what place-based retrofit looks like in action.

Speakers:

Rachael Owens – Co-Director (National Retrofit Hub)

Talisa Denny – Project Coordinator (National Retrofit Hub)
