UKERC is delighted to open applications for the 2026 Inclusive Writing Retreat, taking place in Cardiff from Tuesday 17 to Wednesday 18 November 2026.
The retreat is open to all UK-based, energy-focused Early Career Researchers (ECRs), and we particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups in energy research. Over the course of the retreat, participants take part in group sessions, networking activities, and dedicated writing time, with each attendee bringing a specific writing project to focus on. The retreat also includes an evening dinner with the opportunity to speak with stakeholders working in energy.
The 2025 retreat gave researchers dedicated time and space to make real progress on stalled or early-stage writing. In the months since, participants have gone on to:

Five spots will be reserved for UKERC applicants, selected at random from all UKERC applications; all other participants will also be selected at random from eligible applications.

Successful Participant briefing: Thursday 5th November, 12:10 pm to 1:00 pm
