FREE EVENT – Travel bursaries available for Early Career Researchers
The SES Network Skills Development Workshops are in-person events focused on topics directly relevant to the UK solar PV industry. They are aimed primarily at Early Career Researchers (MSc, PhD, Postdoctoral Researchers and New Lecturers) from UK universities, while also welcoming attendees from industry and academia at all career stages.
The topic for this workshop is: PV for Energy Access. This can encompass a wide range of subjects relevant to enabling solar PV deployment in the UK and overseas, such as underpinning local PV manufacturing, off-grid and mini-grid PV, PV-battery systems, community solar projects (UK & overseas) and exploring energy justice and societal attitudes and perceptions of solar PV.
The PV for Energy Access Skills Development Workshop emphasises discussion, knowledge exchange, and partnership building to allow participants to connect across disciplines, share perspectives, and explore opportunities for collaboration in advancing PV technologies to underpin energy access in the UK and overseas.

Industry speakers: confirmed speakers include a speaker from Power Roll and Adrian Clews, Hinckley Recycling, Martin Bellamy, Solpak Development, Henrietta Dale, Repowering London, Laura Allerston, Smart Villages Research Group, Priyesh Gosai, Innovate for Impact.
Industry panel session with Q&A
Short talks from academic researchers in the field: Andrew Crossland, Durham University, Serena Margadonna, Swansea University
Who should attend: Representatives of the UK solar technology industries with an interest in addressing Energy Access; Early Career Researchers from UK universities researching the technical, economic and societal issues within the topic; Senior researchers who wish to engage directly and share ideas and issues with industry.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided during the day.
A note on how to register: The event is FREE for IoP members. IoP do charge a nominal event registration fee to their non-members. However, SES Network members can use a discount code when registering to set the fee to zero. Choose the Non-Member/Student Non-Member option on the IoP event website and then use the code.
