Next steps for UK offshore wind

08 May 2026

Hosted by Westminster Transport and Energy Forum.

This conference will examine next steps for UK offshore wind, bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders and stakeholders to assess progress and priorities for delivering offshore wind projects at scale.

Discussion will focus on the implications of recent Contracts for Difference Allocation Round 7 (AR7) outcomes, future auction reform, and the practical requirements for moving contracted projects through development and into construction. With the Government aiming to quadruple offshore wind capacity to 43–50GW by 2030, the event will consider delivery conditions, investor confidence, and the infrastructure, grid and workforce capacity needed to meet Clean Power 2030 ambitions.

The conference will also draw on early lessons from AR7, including the role of the Clean Industry Bonus and Fair Work Charter in influencing supply chain participation, workforce standards and delivery certainty ahead of future allocation rounds.

Key themes

  • Contracts for Difference auction design and reform
  • Translating AR7 outcomes into delivered offshore wind capacity
  • Planning, consenting and marine spatial planning implications
  • Environmental protection and compensatory measures
  • Supply chain resilience, industrial strategy and workforce skills
  • Investment conditions and funding for offshore wind delivery
  • Grid capacity, network planning and connections reform
  • Floating offshore wind and longer‑term pipeline development
