Climate Change and Mental Health in the Global South: Experiences from the Philippines

Please join us for a lecture about climate change and mental health in the Global South, in which Dr John Aruta will share his first-hand experiences from the Philippines.

The lecture is hosted by hosted by the Climate Cares Centre at the Institute of Global Health Innovation in association with the Grantham Institute.

Dr Aruta is a counseling and environmental psychologist, and associate professor at De La Salle University in the Philippines. His research focuses on environmental psychology, climate change and mental health, and pro-environmental actions. It has a strong emphasis on Global South contexts and environmental justice. 

He is the founding editor-in-chief of the journal Environmental Psychology Research, and the founder and inaugural director of the Sustainability Psychology and Planetary Health Research Laboratory (SPPHERE Lab).

He is also the current chair of the environmental psychology special interest group of the Psychological Association of the Philippines
