Senior Consultant – Power System Economics

Energy Consulting, a part of GE Energy, has offices in 22 countries and offers our global clients (external & internal GE) a wide range of solutions across the entire spectrum of energy planning, power generation, transmission & distribution, and asset utilisation. Within Energy Consulting, our Power Economics team offers analysis based on its in-depth understanding and expertise of the financial and physical operation of the electric power systems including generation and grid planning, system optimisation, asset valuation, competitive power markets and energy policy implications. On the other hand, our Power Systems team utilises their deep knowledge of power grid planning, design, operation, and life-cycle management offering customised solutions to our global clients. Over 700 users worldwide use our Concorda Suite of software tools (MAPS, MARS and PSLF), developed by our Software Products team. These software solutions enable clients to assess the economics, performance, and reliability of interconnected power systems. We also offer a comprehensive range of training courses to the Power Industry.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

This position is for a Senior Consultant who is well versed in the European power industry. As a member of the GE Energy Consulting – Power Economics team, the successful candidate will support consulting services across the electric power industry in the UK and Europe.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct economic studies related to production cost modelling, power market forecasting, reliability analysis and integrated resource planning, using GE Energy Consulting’s proprietary or 3rd party tools.
  • Design and model alternative future electricity market and energy transition scenarios for delivering the decarbonisation and net zero targets.
  • Support studies evaluating the technical and economic performance of generation and transmission projects.
  • Skilful in drawing conclusions/key messages from project work & modelling analysis and to document project findings as quality reports and slide packs for client presentations.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality deliverables to clients.
  • Support other team members to increase efficiency and accuracy of existing models.
  • Learn new technologies and adapt team capabilities to meet the needs of the industry and of GE.
  • Participate in identifying and cultivating new customers and opportunities to build pipeline.
  • Pro-actively support marketing & sales activities of Energy Consulting’s offerings/products.
