Research Associate in Climate Action

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Climate Action in the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations (CAST). The post will be based at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering at The University of Manchester.  The CAST Centre is part of a major new investment in climate change social science by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

You will be working across projects within the CAST programme focusing on grassroots transformations in Theme 2, and on accelerating city-level action on climate change in Theme 3. See and for more information.

In both projects the purpose of the work is to understand how the significant society-wide transformations required to fight climate change can be supported. This work will involve learning from current grassroots initiatives, and helping to develop new city-scale initiatives of which you will be part. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with organisations delivering transformational change offering a direct route to achieving impact through your research.
