Lecturer in Environmental Performance of Historic Buildings

The successful candidate will play a key role in a new dual degree programme in Sustainable Built Environments, Energy and Resources: more here.

They will strengthen ISH’s research capacity in data analysis and development of retrofit/renewables solutions to improve the sustainability of the built heritage.

The holder of this post will convene and teach on two modules:

Sustainable Building Challenges: Heritage, Retrofit and Re-use. The module introduces the methods, practice and consequences of retrofit utilised to decrease energy demand and improve environmental performance of our buildings.

Decision-Making Data Analytics. This module focuses on the analytical tools that underpin decision-making in building optimisation. Students will implement practical optimisation methods with Python and Matlab. In addition, the postholder will be expected to develop a research agenda related to heritage building retrofit and environmental performance analysis. This includes successful fundraising for research, producing research outputs at the level required for inclusion in the Research Excellence Framework, and supervising research students.
