Ronan is a Reader in Science Technology and Innovation Studies at the University of Edinburgh. His work examines the interconnected policy, market and regulatory challenges of transforming carbon based energy systems. Particular research interests are in the areas of energy network regulation and system integration, along with the the history and development of liberalisation processes in the energy sector.
Ronan originally trained as a mechanical engineer and did a PhD on energy transitions at the Sustainability Research Institute, University of Leeds.
