Imperial College London

Dr Nicolás Ripoll Kameid is a Research Associate at the Clean Energy Processes Laboratory led by Professor Christos Markides in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. Specializing in thermodynamics, thermochemical processes, and renewable energy systems. His work focuses on energy storage technologies and sustainable fuel production, combining experimental design with advanced modelling.

Previously, Nicolás held a position as a Research Associate in Hydrogen Energy and Air Pollution Impacts at the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London under the management of Professor Helen ApSimon, where he worked on the assessment of air quality impacts of the production, transport, storage and use of Hydrogen and H2-based technologies.

He obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Federico Santa Maria Technical University, Chile, where he studied new hydrogen and syngas production methods through the thermochemical conversion of carbonaceous feedstocks using concentrated solar energy, under the supervision of Professor Mario Toledo Torres. During his time as a PhD Student, Nicolás co-funded Quempin SpA, a science and technology-based spin-out company (www.quempin.cl) dedicated at the development of thermal solutions.
