Mathieu joined the Warwick Business School in October 2020 where he now works on Theme 1 “UK Energy in a Global Context”. Previously, he obtained his PhD from Ghent University (Belgium) where he did research on the emergence and diffusion of international “anti-fossil fuel norms”.
He is interested in a variety of topics at the intersection of global energy and climate politics. In the context of UKERC Theme 1, his main research foci are the geopolitics of energy system transformation and UK zero-carbon energy policy. He is further involved in a research project at Ghent University on “greening” central banks.
