Kathryn G Logan graduated with a First Class BSc (Hons) degree in Environmental Science from the University of Aberdeen in 2016. She is currently pursuing a four year PhD in Environmental Science and is expected to complete this in 2020.
Kathryn’s PhD project involves applying quantitative analysis methods to the project entitled ‘Investigating the Impact of the Electrification of Transport to Reduce Carbon Emissions on Natural Capital.’ Her PhD focuses on infrastructure changes, including electricity supply, and the related effects and trade-offs between greenhouse gas emission reductions, climate regulation and the potential impact upon ecosystem services. She is supervised by Dr Astley Hastings (University of Aberdeen) and Professor John Nelson (University of Sydney). Kathryn has also had the opportunity to work as a visiting researcher at Tsinghua University (China) and Kyoto University (Japan) to understand what lessons can be learned from other countries in regards to decarbonisation and cleaner public transport.
Kathryn is funded by the National Environmental Research Council (NERC) and the University of Aberdeen and will contribute towards the ‘ADdressing Valuation of Energy and Nature Together’ (ADVENT) research project, as part of the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC).
